Pay per click has its advantages over advertising in the local newspaper or directory. For one, you only pay when someone actually clicks on your advertisement. When it comes to the paper products you will pay a flat rate for simply appearing. Impressions are defined as the number of times your advertisement appears but is not clicked on. So if you sell widgets ,and ten users see your ad, and only five users click on the ad, you will have 10 impressions with only 5 true clicks.
Pay per click, is an advertising method that involves the use of the search engines. In PPC marketing, one places ads, with targeted keywords, in the search engines. The ad then is spread all over the internet. Whenever a person clicks on the link to their site, they will pay for each click.
Now, most people think that bidding high and using a lot of keywords will get them to the number one spot for them on there, but that’s far from the truth. Yes, it does help to use those keywords, but the result is they will have to pay for those clicks and if they don’t convert into dollars, then all for nothing.
The best thing to do here is bid what you can afford to pay and use a mix of competitive and non-competitive words. In fact, it’s easier to get to the top of the search engine results page with non-competitive keywords rather than competitive ones. There are less of these keywords also.
